(Clearwisdom.net) In mid-June 2008, Ms. Zhang Xiaoning, a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhuolu County, Hebei Province, was illegally arrested and taken to the Yanqing County Brainwashing Center in Beijing. She was detained for four months.
During that time, she was forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong for hours. The only food she was given was a small steamed bun for each meal. She persevered in following the standards of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and refused to be "transformed." Officer Zhao Xuan of the 610 Office refused to release her until after the Olympic Games in Beijing were over. Zhao Xuan also ordered intensified sessions for her for three days in a row in an attempt to "transform" her. Ms. Zhang only slept for four hours per day during that time (from approximately 1:00 to 4:00 a.m.). Whenever she started to doze off, an officer would splash her with cold water.
Ms. Zhang was released in mid-October, but the 610 Office Civil Affairs Bureau and Crematory Factory in Zhuolu County continued to harass her. They tried to have her dismissed from her job.
Three people were hired to monitor Ms. Zhang Xiaoning while she was at the brainwashing center. One of those hired was the elder sister of officer Li Zhiming.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spent about 50,000 yuan to persecute practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiaoning while she was held at the Yangqing County Brainwashing Center.
