(Clearwisdom.net) Guangdong Province practitioner Mr. Long Guande was arrested in 2007. The Guangzhou City Tianhe District Court has rejected his case due to inadequate evidence, but Mr. Long is still being held at the Guangzhou No. 3 Detention Center despite his poor health condition. Visitation requests from Mr. Long's family have been denied. When Mr. Long's family appealed, government departments shifted responsibility onto others.
Mr. Long was severely injured due to police violence during his arrest on September 23, 2007, by the Guanzhou City Police Department and the Dongguan City Dongchen District Police Department. The government officials did not provide any treatment, which caused Mr. Long's internal injuries to worsen. After an open letter to international society exposed the persecution to which he was subjected, Mr. Long was admitted into the Guangdong Province Armed Police Hospital in September 2008. The government continued denying visitation requests from Mr. Long's family.
In March 2009, Mr. Long's family learned that he had been admitted to the Guangdong Province Armed Police Hospital again. This caused them deep concern about Mr. Long's health.
On March 6, 2009, Mr. Long's family appealed to the government for his release. They first went to the Guangzhou City Political and Legislative Affairs Committee but were turned away at the gate. They then went to Guangzhou City People's Congress, who sent them to the Tianhe District office. When the family went to the Tianhe District office, they were told to come back after their case was transferred from the People's Congress. On March 13, the family went to the Tianhe District Court, but the deputy judge, Liang Hao, told them to work with the Guangzhou City Intermediate Court Preliminary Hearing Office.
