(Clearwisdom.net) On November 1, 2011, local police arrested Mr. Tang Jian, a practitioner from Chongqing, then took him to the Chongqing Nan'an Detention Center, where he is currently being held. Mr. Tang's family went to the detention center and brought him clothes, but police prevented them from seeing him. Mr. Tang and his family steadfastly practice Falun Gong, yet over the past 13 years, three family members have been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Mr. Tang received a degree from the Graduate School of Southwestern Petroleum College (currently Southwestern Petroleum University) in 1999. That same year, he was admitted to their doctoral program. However, university officials forced him to write a guarantee statement as a condition for continuing his study. Mr. Tang refused, so the officials only allowed him to work as a teacher in the university. Later, Mr. Tang went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa. University officials then fired him from his position.
His wife, Ms. Li Xiao, was arrested and detained in the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp when she was only 19 years old. Due to her firm belief in Falun Gong, she was subjected to several methods of torture and nearly died. In 2005, the Asian and Pacific City Summit was held in Chongqing, and Ms. Li was arrested again and taken to the brainwashing center. Three days later, she was taken to a hospital emergency room.
In 2002, Mr. Tang was arrested in Chengdu and then sentenced to four years in prison. His younger sister Ms. Tang Sulan, a student at the Sichuan Foreign Languages Institute, was expelled from the school because she practiced Falun Gong. His mother Ms. Xiao Jiying and younger sister were arrested on August 28, 2002, and sentenced on June 19, 2003 to seven years in prison.
Ms. Tang Jiying was subjected to persecution in the Chengdu Women's Prison, resulting in high blood pressure and brain trauma. As a result, she couldn't walk normally, nor take care of herself. She was subsequently released for medical treatment. When her 7-year prison term expired, she was not given a retirement pension. She is now living at Ms. Tang Sulan's home. Due to her seven years of imprisonment, Ms. Tang also experienced financial difficulties, and had to rely on Mr. Tang Jian for partial rent and their mother's living expenses. Since Mr. Tang is currently being detained, his sister's rent and his mother's living expenses have become a difficult burden.
On November 1, 2011, local security officers arrested Mr. Tang Jian while he was distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials near the Chongqing Jiaotong University, within the Nan’an District of the city. He was then taken to the Haitangxi Police Station. At that time, his mother-in-law was quite ill, and had just come out of the hospital. Upon hearing the news, she took food and clothes to the police station and requested to see her son. However, the police ignored her and made her stand outside in strong wind. She was helpless to accomplish her goal, so she finally returned home with tears in her eyes in heavy wind and rain. Rain and thunder continued throughout the night – an event rarely experienced in November, in Chongqing – as if heaven were also crying for Mr. Tang.
After Mr. Tang's arrest, officers and sergeants from the Dafoduan Police Station in Nan’an District, Chongqing harassed his in-laws. One of the sergeants (Li Shaolong) had monitored, harassed and persecuted Mr. Tang's wife Ms. Li Xiao over the past several years. They forced the elderly couple to reveal Ms. Li's location. The elderly couple was already distraught due to Mr. Tang's arrest, yet the officers threatened them. Mr. Tang's in-laws were intimidated and scared, and the father-in-law drank a lot to reduce the pain. His mother-in-law, already in poor health, contracted additional illness due to her heightened stress. Doctors suggested that she undergo an operation, but she couldn't afford the medical expense. Moreover, her son and daughter couldn’t take care of her at the hospital. She received some injections in the hospital, then returned home immediately. Mr. Tang has been in custody for over two months; his mother-in-law is unable to take care of herself, and doctors indicated that her life was in danger.
Falun Gong practitioners have endured cruel persecution over many years, yet they've always hoped that others were blessed, happy with their families, safe and peaceful! This is the reason why they persist in explaining the truth about Falun Dafa and calling for an end to the persecution - even to those who participate in the persecution of practitioners. Don’t wait until it's too late for regret!
