(Minghui.org) In 1993 I came to Changchun City in Jilin Province to attend a military college. I saw Falun Gong practitioners doing exercises in Nanhu Park. At that time I had a pleasant feeling, but I had recently joined the military, and my college controlled its students very tightly. I did not have any opportunity to study Falun Gong. Between March and April of 1995, other students and I went to an electronics classroom. I saw a female instructor playing Falun Gong’s exercise instruction videotapes, which lasted just over ten minutes. Once she saw the students step into the room, she turned off the video. At that time an idea flashed into my mind: when the opportunity presents itself, I will learn Falun Gong.
In the latter part of 1995, I experienced the first big setback of my life. Due to my personality and other reasons, I lost the opportunity to continue studying in my major. I accepted this setback and waited for a second opportunity for the college to arrange a job for me. In the meantime, I did all kinds of temporary jobs. When I had time, I went to the library to read. I hoped to find answers concerning the miserable lives of humans, but I failed.
In 1996 I was transferred to another military college. During our morning exercises, I saw over twenty people practicing Falun Gong in a quiet part of the school. I thought that maybe I could also practice the exercises. One Sunday morning in March 1997, I finally went to that exercise location. A woman gave me a copy of the book Zhuan Falun, and on that day I started to learn Falun Gong.
About two months later, the team’s Communist Party secretary learned that I practiced Falun Gong. He had a chat with me and asked me to give it up. Then, he asked for the book Falun Gong (Revised Edition) to “study.” Later on, that same party secretary spoke at an assembly and used the CCP's atheist doctrine to criticize many phenomena related to Falun Gong. He did not mention my name in that meeting. Because I could find in Falun Gong all the answers to the problems he mentioned, I did not feel too much pressure. I firmly believed Master Li’s words. Besides, I had already anticipated that the party secretary would have opposing opinions, and all of this reinforced my decision to practice cultivation.
After graduation, without going through backdoor relations I was assigned to a relatively good military branch. I worked and lived in accordance with the principles of the Fa. I worked very hard and was careful not to make any mistakes. I cared about my co-workers, and therefore my supervisors and co-workers all liked me. In the first year that I worked in that unit, I won a third-grade award. In the second year, I was transferred to a more senior work unit. In that branch, there were only two Falun Gong practitioners, and they worked in different places. I was cultivating by myself most of the time. In May, I carried out a mission along with my supervisor out of the city. My supervisor knew that I practiced Falun Gong, but he never talked to me about it.
When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the television room in my living area showed CCTV news programs slandering the practice. Though I was surprised by the news coverage, it did not shake my belief in Falun Gong. It seemed as though I had already anticipated it. When I read the book Essentials for Further Advancement , I knew what would happen in the future. I knew that a big test was coming. The two soldiers sharing my dormitory room knew that I was practicing Falun Gong. They told me to give it up, but I refused. I knew that we did nothing wrong and that everything told on TV was a lie. No matter what the government’s motivation was, I knew I could not give up the practice. I paid careful attention to studying the Fa and practicing the exercises. Because I was carrying out an important mission, our military background checks were very strict. However, nothing different happened to me, and nobody questioned me.
One incident happened during that period: At dawn one day, while playing soccer, I suddenly stepped on the ball. Due to the speed, my whole body was turned upside down, and I fell down with my head toward the ground. When I stood up, I found that my left arm was out of its normal position. Seeing a bone sticking far out of the flesh, I was scared and dared not move. I had never been involved with such an event and had no idea what to do. My colleagues said I should go to the clinic to have my arm put back into position. But then I thought: I am a Dafa disciple; I should be able to fix this problem by myself, but I did not know how. I walked back and thought: It’s my attachment to play that caused this big lesson. In the future I should play soccer less. While walking toward my dormitory, I kept looking within while moving my arm. Somehow, when I was close to my dormitory, my injured arm was back in its normal position and no longer hurt like before. Still, the broken skin around my shoulder bled a lot. I put some iodine on it. After a few days, it was healed. This event made me realize that my attachment to playing was too strong and that I needed to get rid of it.
I finished that mission and came back after October 1999. A family friend told me that after I left, some people came to ask if I practiced Falun Gong or not. When they heard I did not, they left. She warned me to be careful. I knew it was Master who had helped me resolve this problem. During my later work, I did not encounter much interference like this.
I logged on to the Minghui website to study Master’s lectures. Gradually, I learned more and more things. I knew I should clarify the facts about Dafa to remove the lies that were harming people. I used my resources to give out software, CDs, printed information, and emails. I also wrote truth-clarification letters to everyday people. I was cultivating by myself and did all these things alone. Because I could not communicate with fellow practitioners, I did not do many things well, especially clarifying the truth face-to-face. I only clarified the truth to some of my family members and friends, but the results were not ideal. This was something that I needed to break through.
I later fell in love and got married, which took a lot of time. I knew that if I did something wrong, it is useless to regret it. We should find the real problems from deep within ourselves and use Dafa to fix these problems. Therefore, whenever I had trouble with my wife or her mother, I would think about the relevant Dafa principles. When I started to look within myself, the problem was resolved.
I lacked opportunities to clarify the truth about Dafa to people due to my work. I knew that as a Dafa disciple, I should clarify the truth. I sincerely hoped to have a separate office, where I would not need to write reports or accompany my supervisors, where I could clarify the truth over the Internet. In 2007, my boss transferred me to a department with more free office time. I knew it was arranged by Master. In recent years, I used the advantages of my work to send out tens of thousands of emails with truth-clarification materials attached. In October 2010, I made a video clip to inspire people to think about the real meaning of life. Based on the feedback I received, the results were quite good. Now, since young people visit websites more often, they easily accept new things. They have curious spirits. One of them started to learn Falun Gong.
During these dozen years, I did not lag behind in the Fa-rectification because I logged on to the Minghui website nearly every day. I knew there are quite a few practitioners cultivating alone, especially those who work in special departments and positions. For us, reading Minghui articles is the best way of communicating. I hope that more young practitioners can write experience-sharing articles. Of course, you should be careful and pay attention to your safety. For these technical problems, the Minghui website has said many times that you can use it as a reference.
I am now looking back at the path of cultivation I covered over the past twelve years. As long as one acts according to Fa principles and walks the path arranged by Master, the path is sure to fit his or her inborn qualities and sure to be open.
