(Minghui.org) The Mingshan Court secretly put a military doctor on trial in September 2014 without notifying his family. He was sentenced to a four-year prison term.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Chenglin (赵成林), 53, from Benxi City, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Mingshan District Police Department on March 26, 2014, for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs.
The police hit him on the head and knocked him out. They dragged him unconscious into a police car and took him to the Benxi Detention Center. It was the third time he had been arrested.
Ji Yunqin, the judge in charge of the Mingshan District Court, originally scheduled the trial on August 26, 2014, but it was postponed.
The court insisted on holding the trial, but Mr. Zhao was too weak to walk. It was said that Mr. Zhao, to resist the repeated persecution, went on a hunger strike for several days. As a result, he was in a critical physical and mental condition and unable to attend the trial.
Mr. Zhao had been sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2001 and a nine-year prison term in 2002.
