(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Zonghai, 40, was forced to leave his home 12 years ago for refusing to give up his belief. On Nov. 8 he was arrested in Changchun City, where he currently resides.
Mr. Yang lived in Tahe County, Heilongjiang Province. In July 2002, when he was still single and lived with his parents, local police broke into their home and exhaustively ransacked the house.
They attempted to arrest Mr. Yang. He fled, and a chase ensued. Police fired weapons at him as he ran. The police blocked all major exits from the county, searched hotels, and looked for Mr. Yang in nearby cities.
During the next 12 years, they harassed and interrogated his immediate family, distant relatives, and friends during times the Chinese Communist Party considers “sensitive”—national holidays and high-level government meetings.
For years Mr. Yang was forced to be homeless to avoid arrest and persecution. He came to Changchun a few years ago, started a small business, and got married.
Unfortunately, he needed to return to his hometown to renew his personal identification so that he could obtain residential registration for his newborn. This trip allowed Tahe Police to trace him to Changchun.
Police made the arrest to “close an unsolved case.” Mr. Yang is now detained in the No. 1 Detention Center in Changchun.
Mr. Yang and his siblings have been repeatedly arrested and detained for their belief in Falun Gong. He was sent to a labor camp in 1999 for one year. His sister, Ms. Yang Yunjie, was sent to two years of “re-education through labor” in 2006. Another sister, Ms. Yang Zongying, was sent to labor camps in 2000 and 2006.
His brother, Mr. Yang Zongbo, was sent to a labor camp for a year in 2002. The Tahe County Court also forced his brother to divorce his wife.
