(Minghui.org) While Ms. Liang Yu was taking care of her sick father at the Bangbu City Hospital in November 2013, police officers stormed into the ward and illegally arrested her. Seeing his daughter arrested and his wife harassed several times by 610 officials, Ms. Liang's father was filled with fear and sadness. He soon passed away.
After her husband suddenly died, Ms. Liang's mother left the family home to avoid arrest. Six months later, Ms. Liang was sentenced to three years of prison in June, 2014 and was transferred to the Anhui Province Women's Prison located at Suzhou City in the beginning of September 2014.
Agents kept the news of her father's passing from Ms. Liang while she was in custody. Her family was not allowed to hire an attorney for her.
This was not the first time for Ms. Liang to be detained because of her belief. She was previously sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2005 while she was in Beijing. When her employer dismissed her because she practiced Falun Gong in 2004, she went to Beijing. While she was there, 610 officials arrested her and took her back to Bangbu City. Since then, she has stayed away from home to avoid arrest.
Ms. Liang was on a business trip in 2002 to Shenzhen City, when Bangbu City 610 officials arrested and placed her in a brainwashing center.
Ms. Liang Yu, 35, is an engineer. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and has benefited physically and spiritually. She enrolled at a top university in China and was considered an excellent student.
Her first arrest occurred in Beijing when she was there to appeal for Falun Gong in January, 2000. She was detained at the train station by 610 officials and was taken back to her university.
