(Minghui.org) I was arrested for practicing Falun Dafa in 2003, when my daughter was a sophomore in college. She was very worried about me when I was in prison, but dared not tell her classmates about it. As time passed, chronic stress caused her to develop excruciating headaches.
She was diagnosed with cerebral vasospasm, an incurable condition that could only be managed with medication. Whenever she had a headache, she had to go to a clinic and take an injection for the pain. Relief would come within a few days. At first, the headaches flared up every few months, then they came every month, then more frequently. They soon affected her studies and school life.
I was released from prison in 2004, and that summer my daughter came home during her break. One evening, she fell ill again. Her face turned blue, and was covered with sweat. Her headache was so bad that she couldn't get off the sofa.
“Say 'Falun Dafa is good,'” I said to her.
She replied, “No. If others want to, they can, but not me. I am going to the clinic.” I knew that the persecution and my arrests had left deep scars in her heart. Without having the opportunity to learn the facts from me, she equated “Falun Dafa” as part of her painful memories, and was trying to avoid it.
I tried to help her to stand up, but she couldn't. “Please don't touch me. My head hurts so bad that I feel like my eyeballs are popping out.”
Seeing her in such a pain, my husband said to her, “Why don't you try to say the words like your mom asked? If it doesn't work, it won't hurt anything.”
My daughter finally gave in and started to say “Falun Dafa is good.” Before she finished the sentence, she began to yawn, but she kept reciting the words.
In less than three minutes, she stood up by herself and said to me, “How strange! My head no longer hurts. Could I read your (Dafa) books? I want to find out why.”
I handed her the book Zhuan Falun, and recommended that she read it from the beginning. As she was reading, she kept yawning. Tears flowed from her eyes, and her nose was dripping. After about ten pages, she told me she was tired and wanted to sleep.
However, she couldn't fall asleep while laying in bed. She said to me sincerely, “Mom, I finally know now that Falun Dafa is really good.
“I didn't understand you before. You were told not to practice, but you kept practicing. You were told not to tell others [about Falun Dafa], yet you kept telling them. You were told not to pass out information, but you did it more and more. I know now that you are truly saving people. My biggest lesson this summer is realizing that 'Falun Dafa is good'.”
She later sent a text message to her cousin telling him to remember “Falun Dafa is good,” because she had personally experienced it. That summer, she was as happy as a little bird, telling all her friends and classmates about her experience.
Once, when she was home with several of her classmates, I overheard her talking to them while I was cooking in the kitchen, “I used to be really afraid people would find out that my mom practiced Falun Gong. I was embarrassed about it. But now, I am very proud to have a Falun Gong mom.”
That summer was ten years ago. My daughter has since been free of illness. She often tells her friends what she knows about Falun Dafa, and because of her, many people now understand the wonders of Dafa, and have withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations.
