(Minghui.org) A 66-year-old woman from Luzhou City, Sichuan Province was snatched by several police officers this April while helping her son-in-law check out of the hospital. The police forcibly took a blood sample from her fingers, with Chief Wu of Jiangyang District Police Station claiming that it was part of their standard arrest process.
Ms. Tang Minghai (唐明海), however, was suspicious of Wu's claim. After all, Minghui has reported a series of cases in which Falun Gong practitioners in Hebei Province, Liaoning Province, Guizhou Province , Jiangxi Province, and Hunan Province had their blood and tissue samples taken to provide a DNA record for potential use in forced organ harvesting.
Ms. Tang was tried six months later at Naxi Detention Center, where she has been held since her arrest on April 22. An officer surnamed Cao had promised to release her in a few weeks, but that never happened. Moreover, the police kept delaying responses to her request for medical parole.
Her children didn't find out about the November 7th trial until they went to Jiangyang District Court two weeks later to inquire about her case. They were infuriated that they were not informed of their mother's trial, but Sun Hua, criminal investigation section chief of the court, replied nonchalantly, “There's no need to notify you of the trial. I'm not aware of any policy that mandates advanced notice in Falun Gong trials!”
Shortly after Ms. Tang's trial, two more practitioners were tried at the same detention center, with police setting up three check points to block the public from attending the supposedly public trial.
Prior to her latest arrest that left her with bruises on her arms, Ms. Tang was once incarcerated at Nanmusi Women’s Forced Labor Camp for one year. Her “crime” was telling people how the Chinese Communist Party has been persecuting Falun Gong, a self-cultivation system that helped her regain health and cured her depression.
