(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Chuanju, a retired elementary teacher, was illegally sentenced to four years in prison by a Junan County Court judge. Her attorney submitted her appeal to a higher court on November 21, 2014.
Ms. Wang, 60, from Junan County was illegally arrested on June 16, 2014, for posting informational materials about Falun Gong. She was tried on October 31, 2014, at the Junan County Court.
Ms. Wang was charged under Article 300 of China's Criminal Code with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” routinely used by the Communist regime to arbitrarily arrest and imprison Falun Gong practitioners.
Prosecutor Wang Houyan of the Junan County Procuratorate, didn't present any evidence during the trial, except for several photos, claiming that the physical evidence had been destroyed by the police.
Ms. Wang's two attorneys argued that the photos proved her innocence, and that Ms. Wang didn't violate any law or regulation. The attorneys declared that the judge should clear Ms. Wang of any crime and set her free.
Ms. Wang also stated that practicing Falun Gong and believing in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance was not a crime. She only wanted to inform others so that they could benefit from the practice. Her rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatic heart disease disappeared after she began practicing.
The prosecutor interrupted the attorneys' defense several times during the trial. The attorneys complained, so judge Yan Ruhua had to tell the prosecutor to stop.
The prosecutor complained to the judge during recess, “You let the attorneys talk too much. Why don't you stop them?”
Ms. Wang's daughter called the judge after the trial. He said that he would report the case to his superior, and told her not to call or visit him again.
Ms. Wang was sentenced to four years in prison on November 18, after the judge talked to his superior.
