(Minghui.org) In the summary report, “ The Role of China's Brainwashing Centers in the Torture Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners ,” we analyzed 3653 confirmed death cases of Falun Gong practitioners over the past 15 years of persecution. We found that 746 (11%) experienced torture in brainwashing centers, and 367 deaths took place in the brainwashing centers.
The report lists the top 15 centers that involved torture deaths. Below, we offer detailed information on the top three.
1. Xinjin Brainwashing Center in Chengdu Sichuan
The Xinjin Brainwashing Center, officially called “Chengdu Law Education Center,” is located in Caiwan Village, Huaqiao Town, Xinjin County, Chengdu, Sichuan province. It was co-founded by the Chengdu City 610 Office and Sichuan Province 610 Office.
On May 19, 2003, the first article about this center was published on the Minghui website. It reported the detention of Guo Yufang, a Falun Gong practitioner and local elementary school teacher from Zitong Town, Chongzhou City.
Many more reports on this center have been published on Minghui since—a total of 1065 up to February 27, 2014.
The first death case in this center—the torture death of Liu Shengle from Chengdu—was reported on June 20, 2003. To date, seven Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death in the Xinjin Brainwashing Center: Zhou Suqiong (female, 70), Li Xianwen (male, 54), Deng Shufen (female, 70), Li Xiaowen (female, 67), Liu Shengle (female 53), Xie Deqing (male, 69), and Wang Mingrong (female, 53).
Frequent forced injection of nerve-damaging drugs in this center have caused many practitioners to suffer mental collapse.
On February 16, 2004, the Minghui website reported the mental collapse of Zhu Xia, a female practitioner jailed in the Xinjin Brainwashing Center.
In 2005, Tan Shaolan, a female practitioner imprisoned in this center, suffered a mental collapse due to forced injection of drugs.
On July 19, 2011, the Minghui website reported that 70-year old Li Guanyuan, a female practitioner from Xinjin County, was poisoned in this center.
There is evidence showing that the Xinjin Brainwashing Center has also been involved in forced organ harvesting from practitioners.
On August 17, 2012, an article published on Minghui reported that the center examined jailed practitioners' blood. When questioned by a practitioner, a doctor claimed: “You will be lucky if your organ matches what we want.”
The Xinjin Brainwashing Center has expanded.
On July 18, 2011, an article on the Minghui website entitled, “ Persecution at the Xinjin Brainwashing Center in Chengdu ” offered detailed information about this center. An earthquake in May 2008 damaged the six-story building. After that, the municipal government combined the dental school next door with the original brainwashing center. Since the renovation, both are being used for brainwashing.

2. Maoming Brainwashing Center in Maoming City, Guangdong Province
Maoming Brainwashing Center is officially called the “Maoming City Law Education School.” It is located next to the Maoming Seventh Elementary School and Guanshan Farmer's Market. Not many people know that it is a black prison.
The facility is located in a 5-floor building. The gate is always closed. Practitioners are held on the second, third and fourth floors. There are five rooms on each floor, with windows blocked by boards. A solitary cell is set up on the fifth floor. Many handcuffs, police batons, and other torture tools are hidden in the building.
Up to February 27, 2014, Minghui website has published 206 reports on this center—the first on December 14, 2001.
Forced injection of nerve-damaging drugs is also an often applied torture in this center. The first report on this was published on August 18, 2003.
On May 22, 2005, an article on Minghui reported how Lu Xiuqing (female, then-53) lost her memory due to the forced injection of drugs. After the injection, Ms. Lu passed out and was in a coma for four days. When she woke up, she had lost her memory and could not move.
In June, 2004, Li Mei (female, then 48) from Zhongpo Village, Poxin Town, Maogang District, Maoming City, passed away due to the forced injection of drugs in this center.
To date, five practitioners have been tortured to death in Maoming Brainwashing Center: Li Mei (female, 48), Huang Yulan (female), Yang Mingfen (female), Wu Yixiong (male, 67), and Su Xiaoping (female, 54).
3. Yangyuan Brainwashing Center in Wuhan, Hubei province
The Yangyuan Brainwashing Center was developed from the Qingling Brainwashing Center in Wuchang District, Wuhan City. Its original function was to monitor Falun Gong practitioners and prevent them from appealing. Later, it became a place to imprison practitioners.
In June, 2001, the Qingling Brainwashing Center moved to Yangyuan in the Wuchang District, and was upgraded to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center, which covered practitioners from a larger area.
In 2002, the Wuhan City 610 Office and the Political and Legal Affairs Committee moved their offices to this center, upgrading the center to city level from district level. In May, 2002, a group of police from the Hewan Labor Camp joined the brainwashing center.

The first report on this center, published on August 9, 2001 on the Minghui website, was about the arrest and detention of Wang Qingping (female) and Guo Changxin (male), a husband and wife from Dadongmen, Wuchang District, on August 5.
Up to February 27, 2014, 529 reports on this center have been published on Minghui.
The first death took place on April 6, 2001. Peng Min (male, 27) from Wuhan went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was arrested and jailed in the Qingling Brainwashing Center, where he was beaten to death.
Twenty-two days after Peng Min's death, Li Yingxiu (female) was beaten to death.
To date, six practitioners have been tortured to death in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center: Peng Min (male 27), Li Yingxiu (female), Tong Huilan (female, 70), Cai Mingtao (male, 27), Hu Shuying (female, 61), and Li Junxia (female, 44).
On October 25, 2003, Minghui published a summary report on this center, reviewing the tortures applied there. Besides brainwashing and beating, the most common tortures used have been forced injection of nerve-damaging drug and poisoning food.
On January 13, 2004, an article on the Minghui website reported that when force feeding practitioners who held hunger strikes to protest the persecution, the center added steroid-like drugs into the food, causing hyperactivity.
On June 16, 2009, Minghui reported that Xu Jiamei (female, 77) was poisoned by the food in the Yangyuan center.
On September 25, 2009, an article reported that Gao Shunqin, a female practitioner from Wuhan who was jailed in Yangyuan center for three months, was injected with unidentified drugs.
Many practitioners who completed their sentences in labor camps but refused to renounce Falun Gong were sent to the Yangyuan center directly after they were released from the labor camps.
According to an article on the Minghui website in November 2008, Feng Zhen from Wuhan, who had been imprisoned for seven years, was sent to the Yangyuan center on the same day he was released.
On March 20, 2012, Yu Ganghai completed his sentence after being imprisoned for nine years in the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang, Hubei province. However, he was not released. On March 21, he was sent to the Yangyuan center by the local 610 Office. His family, not being informed where he was sent, looked for him in all the brainwashing centers nearby, and finally found him in Yangyuan.
On January 27, 2014, Minghui reported the arrest and detention of Liu Haibo in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center. Mr. Liu had distributed software that breaks through the internet blockade. His family was not allowed to visit him at the brainwashing center.
