(Minghui.org) Ms. Bai Ailou is being held hostage while police search for her husband, Mr. Han Hongzhi, with the intent to arrest him for his belief in Falun Gong. The police claim that Ms. Bai will be released as soon as her husband returns.
Ms. Bai was arrested in Xiong County and detained in Baoding City Detention Center on December 17, 2013. After two months of detention, she hired an attorney.
Su Shiliang, deputy head of police department said, “When Mr. Han comes back, we'll release Bai Ailou. Otherwise, she will be sentenced.”
On the afternoon of March 10, 2014, Ms. Bai's attorney reviewed her case in the Xiong County Procuratorate. The police broke the law by arresting Ms. Bai and holding her hostage.
Ms. Bai told her lawyer, “Xiong County Police interrogated me twice. They demanded I confess. But I haven't done anything wrong. What should I confess to?”
On the morning of December 17, 2013, Zhong Baozhong from the Domestic Security Division and other officers broke into Mr. Han's home to arrest him, but he was not there. His wife Ms. Bai Ailou was taken away and detained in Xiaobu Village Police Station. The police said they were taking her there for interrogation. However, Ms. Bai was taken to Baoding Detention Center the next day. In order to avoid further persecution, Mr. Han Hongzhi cannot return home.
Mr. Han and Ms. Bai's two teenage daughters have been traumatized by their mother's arrest and have no one at home to care for them.
