(Minghui.org) More than 7,000 Falun Dafa practitioners from around the world attended the 2014 New York Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on May 13, 2014.
Master Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Dafa, gave a lecture and answered practitioners' questions at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on May 13.
After listening to Master's lecture and fellow practitioners' experience sharing, quite a few interviewed practitioners mentioned that Master asked practitioners to take a more solid and conscientious approach in doing things.
They expressed their determination to be more careful and earnest in any Dafa project they work on, and shared their understanding that carrying out various projects meticulously is a reflection of their commitment to saving more people.
Some practitioners who recently came to the US from mainland China said that although overseas practitioners and practitioners in mainland China are in different environments, their efforts are more and more in sync. Together, they formed one body and a unified voice to resist the persecution.
Do Things More Diligently and Carefully
Mr. Li is a young practitioner from New York. He said: “The part of Master's teaching that I remember most clearly is when Master asked us not to be impetuous and do things diligently and reliably. My understanding is that we cannot do things halfheartedly. For example, we did truth-clarification work. But did we do it carefully and with a pure heart?
“Master's lecture got me thinking. Whether it's an ordinary society job or Dafa project, what does it mean to not be impetuous. I think it means we should not be attached to time, the results or how much effort we put in. Instead, we should focus on the work itself and do the truth-clarification work meticulously and reliably. Master mentioned that as Falun Dafa practitioners, we've already let go of many of our attachments. It would be regrettable if we are not more diligent, or fall short in doing Fa work well and cultivating wholeheartedly.”
Eliminating Chinese Communist Party Culture in Our Writing
Ms. Ma has been working for over 10 years in media run by practitioners. She shared her understanding of Master's teaching about disintegrating the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culture.
She said: “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and Disintegrate the Party Culture have been published for quite some time now. But our media still has traces of the CCP culture. Also in practitioners' daily lives, our language is not completely clear of things left over from the CCP culture.
“I felt that my cultivation is not up to the standard. I've been out of China for more than 10 years. But if I'm not careful, things with party culture influence would still slip out of my tongue. For example, in order to maintain their iron grip on society, CCP says that 'it is acceptable to kill some people.' This kind of view has no respect for human lives, yet people from mainland China would agree with this view to some extent.
“As practitioners, if we don't pay attention to eliminating the party culture, we might subconsciously accept this view. This is a sign that we didn't cultivate very well. If we cultivate well, we wouldn't use similar language in our media and would sense and eliminate erroneous preconceived notions as soon as they crop up. After listening to Master's teaching today, I feel that I should be more diligent in my cultivation; become more familiar with the content of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party; pay special attention to eliminating party culture and purify myself.”
Mr. Li also shared his understanding of eliminating the party culture: “I participated in media projects before. Sometimes we copied the language used by Chinese media, which is heavily influenced by the party culture.
“Looking back now, we didn't do our work conscientiously. We are practitioners. We should use cultivation standards to judge our media's articles. What impact would the article have on readers, especially Chinese readers? We must do the media work meticulously. We should be looking at every word and phrase we use, and be committed to saving readers. If we can reach this level, we would not copy any content that's laden with party culture.”
Practitioner from Mainland China: We Are Grateful to Overseas Practitioners
Ms. Yu came from a city in Southern China. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. She had just left China. For her, this is the first time attending a Fa conference outside of China and seeing Master. She said: “ The moment I saw Master, I felt that time and the whole arena froze. I felt so relieved and at peace. I hadn't attended such a large-scale Fa conference for over 10 years. It gave me such a solemn feeling.”
She continued to say that Master's teaching is so simple and clear. “What I could do is to get rid of all of my attachments. China has gone through a lot of changes. Many Chinese people would react normally when hearing about Falun Gong. They felt that practitioners didn't do anything wrong, it doesn't make any sense to continue the persecution or defame the practitioners. Ordinary people are saying that it's ridiculous to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. One of my business partners told me that today's China does not have any good people left, except for Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Yu concluded: “I felt that overseas and Chinese practitioners are doing similar Fa-rectification work – we make truth-clarification phone calls, distribute truth-clarification brochures; tell people to withdraw from CCP and its affiliated organizations. Practitioners in mainland China print out truth-clarification materials made by overseas practitioner and distribute them face to face. The truth-clarification materials are well thought-out, well made and are very effective in spreading the truth. Our truth-clarification paper bills are also very popular. We're grateful to overseas practitioners for designing the truth-clarification materials.”
