(Minghui.org) The Jiaocheng County Court tried Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. You Liqin four times for practicing her belief. Lacking sufficient evidence, the court adjourned four times without a decision. Ms. You is still being detained, eighteen months after her arrest.
The judicial procedures in this Shanxi Province court are a travesty of justice. The court scheduled the fourth trial for May 27, but called the session to order the next day.
On the day of trial, the prosecution's witness once again did not appear. Instead, the judge read the witness's deposition, which conflicted with Ms. You's statement. Her attorney asked for his client's immediate release. The court reserved its decision and said that it would announce the verdict on another day.
This was a repeat of a previous trial on May 16, 2014. When Ms. You's attorney asked to cross-examine the prosecution's witness, the prosecution failed to produce the witness. The court adjourned and the trial was postponed.
Ms. You's mother said after the May 16 trial, “Again and again the court could not prove my daughter's guilt. The court should release her. My daughter has been detained for a year and a half, and the court is still dragging its feet. When will this end?”
More details on Ms. You's first two trials—on October 29, 2013 and November 19, 2013—can be found at Ms. You Liqin Declares Her Innocence in Court.
