(Minghui.org) Shibei District Court in Qingdao City attempted to prosecute Ms. Lu Xueqin and Ms Yuan Shaohua on July 3, 2014. However, the hearing was canceled due to Ms. Lu's poor health.
Ms. Lu and her family before the persecution
The day before on July 2, Ms. Lu's attorney Wang Yu visited her at Qingdao No 3 Detention Center and learned that her condition had deteriorated. She has severe kidney stones, renal cyst and swollen kidneys. She was sent to the affiliated hospital of Qingdao University on May 8 and June 18 for treatment. As of July 2, she had been on an IV for 20 days.
On the day of the trial, family members saw police from Shibei District Court and Qingdao No. 3 Detention Center push Ms. Lu in a wheelchair out of the detention center at around 9 a.m. Seven or eight officers lifted her into the police vehicle. She was slumped over in the chair, appearing to be very ill.
Only Ms. Lu and Ms. Yuan Shaohua's family members were allowed entrance to the court. At least 100 uniformed and plainclothes officers were stationed inside and outside the court, keeping their illegal court proceedings from the public eye.
Ms. Lu's family waited at the court for the trial to begin, unaware that it had been suddenly canceled and that Ms. Lu had been hastily returned to the detention center around 10am.
Finally, at around 11 a.m, the family went to see judge Wang Ge to inquire about the trial. Wang claimed that the hearing was canceled because the lawyer did not pass security checks.
Ms. Lu's family is very worried about her health and has repeatedly appealed to the judge in charge of her case, Wang Ge, to release her on bail. The detention center also submitted a report to Shibei District Court recommending that Ms. Lu be allowed to go home for medical treatment.
The Shibei District Court has thus far refused to allow medical parole, and when Lu Xueqin's family went to see judge Wang Ge, they were turned away. Wang Ge has avoided meeting with the family and not answered their phone calls.
Details on Ms. Lu's arrest and the persecution she has gone through can be found in the following report:
