(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Yushi, 26, was sentenced to a seven-year prison term on May 23, 2014. He has appealed to the Tianjin Intermediate Court. His family hired a lawyer to plead not-guilty for him.
Mr. Wang was arrested at work by officers from the Wanxing Police Station at 8:00 a.m. on July 16, 2013. He was beaten after being taken to the Nankai Police Department. About seven officers ransacked his home at around 10:00 a.m. They confiscated many Falun Gong truth-clarification materials and personal belongings.
The Procuratorate approved the arrest on September 30, 2013. The Nankai Court informed his family of his sentence on May 22, 2014, without holding a trial.
The police and officers from the Residential Committee threatened his parents so they wouldn't expose their crimes. Plainclothes officers were sent to monitor his family, and his parents were not allowed to leave their home. In addition, a camera was set up to monitor the family and their visitors. They even checked his family’s garbage.
Mr. Wang is the only boy in the family. He is regarded as a selfless, kind, and considerate. His family members, friends, neighbors, and people who know him like him. His lawyer, who only met him twice, said he was an outstanding young man. Although he is imprisoned, he still worries about the safety of others.
