(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Xiumei from Dawa County, Liaoning Province, has been detained ever since her arrest on August 21, 2013. She has been tried three times in the past year.
Due to the ongoing persecution, she suffers from heart disease and high blood pressure. Her family has attempted multiple times to have her released, but the Dawa Court judge has ignored their requests. At the same time, no verdict has been handed down.
Family's Requests Ignored
Due to Ms. Feng's health problems, her family has requested several times to have her case dismissed and that she be released. On August 7, 2014, her mother went to see Sun Qian, a Dawa Court judge. Sun told her mother, through a security guard, to wait until his meeting was over. Ms. Feng's mother waited for five and half hours, but Sun never showed up. He didn't respond to any phone calls, so Ms. Feng's mother had to go home.
Her mother called Sun the next day to follow up, but the judge said that the release of her daughter had to be discussed and then approved by senior officials. He quickly cut her off.
Three Trials
Ms. Feng was first tried in the Dawa Court on May 7, 2014, and again on May 29 and July 25, 2014. During the second trial, Ms. Feng's attorney pointed out the legal violations, including late statements of charges and an issue with the summons. The presiding judge had to adjourn the proceedings.
The third trial took place on the morning of July 25. The judge attempted to charge Ms. Feng with "implementation of a cult," but Ms. Feng's attorney dismissed all of the so-called evidence. A verdict is yet to be announced.
