(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Bo from Guanzzhou City, is a school nurse at a high school. She was tried on August 29, 2014, by the Tianhe District Court. The trial was postponed for two hours without any explanation. She refused to answer any questions during the hearing, to protest the unlawful trial.
Ms. Sun was brought in with cuffs on her hands and feet. Her lawyer pointed out right away that it was illegal for the defendant to be cuffed. However, court officials took off only her handcuffs.
The lawyer pleaded not guilty on Ms. Sun's behalf. He argued that the 610 Office, which leads the persecution of Falun Gong, is an illegal organization in China, similar to the secret police during the Nazi period. Freedom of belief is a basic human right, and Falun Gong is recognized and protected in over 100 countries around the world. He stated it was not a cult, and it should be protected by China’s law. The lawyer also argued that the prosecutor claimed Ms. Sun had sabotaged law enforcement, but he did not specify which law enforcement had been sabotaged by the defendant.
The judge constantly interrupted the lawyer’s defense without reason. The lawyer told the judge, “You may dismiss me from the courtroom, but I have the right to defend my client.”
During the trial Ms. Sun was silent. She refused to answer any questions from the judge or the prosecutor. She agreed with her lawyer, “You defended me well. I agree with what you said.”
Ms. Sun is a school nurse at a high school that is affiliated with the Huanan Teacher's University. Police officers from the Subway Police Station illegally arrested her in her office on March 11, 2014. She was taken to the Guangzhou No. 1 Detention Center and was forced to perform slave labor.
