(Minghui.org) Wuhan domestic security arrested five local women and sent them to a brainwashing center during July and September 2014. The women's alleged crime was believing in Falun Gong, a mind and body practice with tenets of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Three women were sent directly to the brainwashing center after being arrested. Two were illegally detained at the Ezhigou Women's Re-education Camp. They were transferred to the brainwashing center within two weeks.
Ezhigou Women's Re-education Camp, formerly a forced labor camp before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) declared the shutdown of the labor camp system, serves the official purpose of “re-educating” women involved in prostitution.
Such Women's Re-education Camps and Drug Rehabilitation Centers, although not bearing the official names of “Re-education through Labor,” are facilities that play the same old role in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners under new names.
Some of these facilities used to carry dual names and simply took down the labor camp sign in 2013. Minghui has published persecution accounts from the Ezhigou Women's Re-education Camp since as early as 2007.
Three out of the five women are still detained at the brainwashing center at the time of writing. They are Zeng Xianmei (曾宪美), Yao Yulan (姚玉兰) and Li Zuhan (李祖涵). The brainwashing center's new location is right next to the Qiaokou District Detention Center in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
The details of the arrests are as follows:
Ms. Zhang Huifen (张惠芬), 67, was transferred to the Etouwan brainwashing center on July 18, 2014 from the Ezhigou Women's Reeducation Camp.
Ms. Zeng Xianmei was also taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in July.
Officers from the Qiaokou District Police arrested Ms. Yao Yulan at home on August 18, 2014. They ransacked her home. She was taken to the women's re-education camp first, then transferred to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center at the beginning of September.
Eight officers broke into Ms. Yang Lihua's (杨丽华) home on August 18, 2014. They took the 60-year-old to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. Her home was ransacked, and all of her Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated.
Ms. Li Zuhan from the Qiaokou District was arrested on August 20, 2014, and her home was ransacked. She was detained at the women's re-education camp and transferred to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center at the beginning of September.
