The Divine Land Marching Band made a special appearance at the Kuala Lumpur International Youth Marching Band Competition opening ceremony
Datuk Muhammad Sidek Bin Khalid, chairman of the competition, and Datin Nawal Binti Salleh, Director of the Department of Education, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, attended the event along with other community leaders.
Because this year's competition coincided with Malaysia Day on September 16, the organizer arranged for the event to kick off on Merdeka Square (Independence Square) in Kuala Lumpur and then move to the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium for the remaining days.
This was the third time that the Divine Land Marching Band was invited to perform at the event. Ms. Su, a representative of the band, said that she was very glad to participate again at such a special location and on such a special day.
The 2014 Kuala Lumpur International Youth Marching Band Competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Federal Territory, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall in Malaysia. It is one of the most outstanding band competitions in the Asia-Pacific region.
The purpose of the competition is to help young people establish positive values and develop leadership qualities, discipline, and character.
