(Minghui.org) A 47-year-old practitioner was arrested on July 30, 2014, for telling people about Falun Gong. The local police tried to force her to sign an agreement to give up the practice, and on November 24, 2014, she was sentenced to three years in prison.
Falun Gong Provides Great Health Benefits
Ms. Zhao Guiyan lives in Qianxi Town in Hebei Province. During the winter of 2011, she began shaking terribly and could not stand or lie down. She went to many local hospitals, including some in Beijing, but the doctors could not discover the cause. She spent a great deal of money on different medications, but they had no effect.
One day when she went to visit some relatives, she had a stroke. Her relatives were very worried about her. One of them said, “It seemed that when you practiced Falun Gong before, you became healthy. Why not pick it up again?”
Ms. Zhao practiced Falun Gong for a short time back in 1999. However, she gave it up after the Chinese Communist Party banned the practice and started to persecute those who would not give it up.
After a relative reminded her of how her health had improved, Ms. Zhao started to seriously practice Falun Gong. She recovered from the stroke after practicing for only a few days.
Grateful, she went out to tell people about the health benefits she experienced and about the persecution. She was arrested twice and sentenced to three years.
Arrested and Sentenced
Ms. Zhao was first arrested on July 2, 2013, after she took a taxi to another town, Xinji. She was detained there for five days.
She was arrested again on July 30, 2014, for telling people about Falun Gong. Local police tried to force her to write a guarantee statement, promising to give up the practice. They also pressured her to tell them about other practitioners.
On August 3, Ms. Zhao became ill. The police told her that they would take her to the hospital, but they took her to the No. 1 Detention Center in Tangshan City instead. She was sentenced to three years in prison on November 24, 2014.
