(Minghui.org) Police tried and failed to coerce a Falun Gong practitioner into falsely accusing a fellow practitioner when they lacked the evidence to charge him with distributing Falun Gong materials.
Police in Qinglong County arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Yongfan (徐永凡) on November 15, 2014, after they found Falun Gong calendars in his car.
The officer then ordered another practitioner, Mr. Han Yaochun (韩耀春), to say that Mr. Xu was delivering the calendars to him. Fully aware of the tactics used by the police, Mr. Han said that he knew nothing of the sort.
Despite the lack of incriminating evidence against him, Mr. Xu is still illegally detained in the Qinglong County Detention Center. He has not been charged with anything.
Honesty Pays Off
Mr. Xu is retired from the Bohai Aluminum Factory in Qinghuangdao. He was in charge of purchasing raw materials and selling end products for 17 years.
Buying and selling is a position prone to bribery. However, Mr. Xu was not corrupt and lived by Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. A customer once asked him, “Where else can I find a person who won't take a bribe nowadays?”
A co-worker of Mr. Xu was jealous because the supervisor trusted Mr. Xu, so he once recommended that their supervisor fire Mr. Xu. “The materials he buys are more expensive than others,” he told their boss. Mr. Xu responded to his supervisor when asked about it. “I must buy the best materials,” Mr. Xu said, “because only the best materials can be used to build quality houses.”
Instead of losing his job over the incident, he was asked to continue working when he was up for retirement. “If everyone was like you and practiced Falun Gong,” his boss said, “we wouldn't have to worry about bribes and thievery.”
