(Minghui.org) Mr. Yang Chanrong was arrested by Changzhou police in May 2010 and sentenced to six years' imprisonment on June 23, 2011. He was recently released.
Personal Account of Persecution by Mr. Yang
I was arrested by the officers from the “610 Office” on May 26, 2010. They took me to a small hotel used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. I was forced to sit on a “small stool,” about 35 cm (13 in) long and 20 cm (8 in) wide, and deprived me of sleep for 15 days. Then, they transferred me to the Xilin Detention Center.
The court sentenced me to six years in Suzhou Prison.
The prison assigned six inmates to monitor me around the clock. They slapped me and forced me to squat for the slightest infraction. Once, I ran against a wall when I could no longer bear the torture. A guard pepper sprayed me and hit my injured head. The next day, they increased the number of inmates who monitored me to eight.
One night, I was pulled by the eight inmates to a spot hidden from cameras. They cuffed my arms behind my back, pushed me to the ground, and covered my eyes.
Instructor Chen Ningyu stomped on my leg, and claimed that he represented Wardens Cheng Ansheng and Zhang Jianzhong. He pepper sprayed my face and mouth, one bottle after another. The pepper water dripped to my chest, and my skin blistered.
The guards told the eight inmates to spread my legs apart into a split, which resulted in excruciating pain. Cheng also shocked my head with an electric baton until the battery died.
Wife Tortured to Death in 2001
Mr. Yang was previously arrested in October 2000 and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment, after renting a bus to transport people between Changzhou and Beijing, as part of an effort to protest the persecution of Falun Gong. He was released in 2007.
Mr. Yang's wife Zhou Fenglin was tortured to death in the Xiling Detention Center in 2001.
His sister, Ms. Yang Shunti, was held in a forced labor camp for three years.
