(Minghui.org) The Fulaerji District Court held an illegal trial against Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yu Guimin and Ms. Yang Xiuhua on October 26, 2015. The practitioners hired two lawyers who succeeded in obtaining a continuance of the trial until November 3.
The first proceeding commenced around 10 a.m. About 100 people attended the court session, including Falun Gong practitioners, the defendants’ families members, and police officers. The court did not check the identity of those who were in attendance, and the security check was only a formality.
During the trial, Ms. Yu said, “I met a young man in the Dajiating Supermarket, and I gave him software to break through the Chinese government’s Internet blockage. I hoped that he could read the truth about Falun Gong.”
Mr. Liu Lianhe, one of her lawyers, asked the judge to have Ms. Yu's handcuffs removed. The other lawyer, Mr. Wang Lei, then asked Ms. Yu when she was given the date and time of her trial. She told him that she was informed just that morning.
Mr. Wang told the judge that under existing Chinese court procedures and law, his client should have been notified three days before the trial.
The judge was at a loss for words, and then called for a meeting with the lawyers. In the end, the judge decided to stop the trial and resume on November 3.
Ms. Yu and Ms. Yang were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in a supermarket during the afternoon of May 1, 2015. Li Ruixin, director, Hong'an Police Station, arrested them. The police transferred them to the Qiqihar Detention Center the next afternoon. They were beaten in the detention center.
