(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Lei was sentenced to 8 years on November 24 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual practice being persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime.
The 50-year-old woman from Fangshan District, Beijing had a relapse of her mental disorder after her latest arrest on February 26, 2014. She shivers all day long and keeps yelling for help.
Gongan Hospital diagnosed her with psychosis, but Fangshan District Court proceeded to try her without her family's or lawyer's knowledge.
Ms. Wang first developed a mental disorder around 2001 while serving three years of forced labor for refusing to give up Falun Gong. Two male guards shocked her face with electric batons until they ran out of charge. After that point, she began to hear voices and suffered from anxiety attacks.
She later recovered after doing Falun Gong exercises and reading Falun Gong books.
When she was arrested again in 2010, she was injected with a large amount of unknown substances, which resulted in her deteriorated mental state.
She managed to return to normal upon her release, only to have a relapse following her latest arrest and subsequent beatings by the guards.
Ms. Wang's family is sad to see her facing long-term imprisonment again, after having spent almost a decade in detention over the years for practicing Falun Gong. They are appealing her sentence.
