(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Xu Lichun and Ms. Shao Xiaoqin were arrested on December 3, 2015, by officers from the Tai'an County Domestic Security Division of Anshan City. They were arrested for filing criminal complaints in July 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dictator.
Arrested for Suing Jiang
The arrests were planned and coordinated by the Anshan Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Tai'an County 610 Office, and police department. Ms. Xu and Ms. Shao are being held at the Anshan City Detention Center.
Since the CCP started its persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in July 1999, the 610 Office and Domestic Security Division have threatened, deceived, monitored, and imprisoned practitioners. Once arrested, many practitioners were tortured, and authorities have ransacked their homes. Former 610 Office director Dong Zhongtao, and the current director, Lu Rongfeng, are directing the persecution in and around Anshan City.
Many Falun Dafa practitioners and their family members have been attacked physically, mentally, and financially. Many practitioners have been forced to flee their homes to avoid persecution, and many families have been broken apart.
Previous Persecution
Ms. Xu and Ms. Shao, besides their present arrests, have been subjected to much persecution during the prior 16 years, for practicing Falun Dafa and clarifying the facts to the public.
The two practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa on November 14, 2000. They were beaten and arrested by police officers at Tiananmen Square, Beijing. They were illegally detained at the Changqiao Police Station for 24 hours, then held at the Xicheng District Police Department in Beijing. During the interrogation, police officers beat Ms. Xu with a baton, which left her with many bruises. The police also poured water over Ms. Xu and put her outside, without adequate clothing, exposed to the harsh winds of winter. The police also beat Ms. Yao with an electric baton.
The practitioners were illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor on January 4, 2001, and were taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. Both practitioners were brutally tortured at the camp. The guards did not allow them to sleep, and arranged for collaborators to use brainwashing techniques on them around the clock. The authorities also forced them to write repentance statements, declaring they would give up their belief in Falun Dafa. They were sent back home on December 18, 2001.
Ms. Xu was arrested in November 2004, by officers from the Daniu Police Station, and her home was ransacked. She was interrogated twice at the station, and was then sent to the Tai'an County Detention Center. Ms. Xu was again sentenced to three years of forced labor later that month, and imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she was tortured and forced to perform slave labor. Ms. Xu's family members were not allowed to visit her. She was held there until being released in March 2006.
Both Practitioners Have Benefited from Falun Dafa
In their complaint letters against Jiang Zemin, Ms. Xu and Ms. Shao both mentioned how they have benefited from Falun Dafa.
Ms. Shao wrote, “My gynecological diseases and stomach bloating completely disappeared after I started cultivating Falun Dafa in 1997. I not only gained a healthy body, but also became tolerant and open-minded. I always think of others first, and am no longer attached to personal gain and loss. Falun Dafa brought great happiness to me and my family.”
Ms. Xu started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. She wrote, “Falun Dafa changed my view of life and the world... How I considered day-to-day matters also changed. Before I cultivated Falun Dafa, I always first thought of my own personal interests, and felt unbalanced if others took advantage of me. But I now always think of others first.”
Background
In 1999 Jiang Zemin, then head of the CCP, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Dafa. The persecution has killed countless practitioners during the past 16 years. Many have been murdered for their organs. Others have been imprisoned and tortured for their belief. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of this brutal persecution.
Under Jiang's direction, the CCP established an extralegal security force, called the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. That organization was given the power to override the police and judicial systems. The 610 Office carries out Jiang's directive to eradicate Falun Gong: ruin practitioners' reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Jiang stepped down as head of the CCP in 2002, but he has exerted much power from the shadows through a network of officials he put in place.
Chinese law now allows citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
