(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Kong Yucui, 67, was recently sentenced to four and a half years in prison after a trial was held at the detention center.
Ms. Kong's children said to the judge, “Our mother didn't do anything wrong. Why did you give her such a heavy sentence?”
“I don't call the shots here,” the judge replied. “It was discussed by more than a dozen people from several work units.”
Ms. Kong's family went to the local 610 Office. The officer said, “We don't deal with Falun Gong cases. We don't call the shots here.”
No one took responsibility for the sentence and gave the family the runaround.
Ms. Kong, who is from Ji County, Tianjin, was arrested on November 4, 2014, for talking about the persecution of Falun Gong at a farmers' market. She was taken to the Ji County Detention Center. To protest her arrest and detention, Ms. Kong went on a hunger strike.
Her hunger strike resulted in severe hypertension, yet the Ji County Court refused to release her on medical parole. They tried her on January 4, 2015, in the detention center because she was too weak to appear in court.
