(Minghui.org) The attorney representing Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wan Queque called for a not guilty verdict at her retrial on January 29, 2015.
Ms. Wan was charged with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” routinely used by the Communist regime to arbitrarily arrest and imprison practitioners nationwide as part of its violent campaign of persecution against Falun Gong.
The first trial was held at the Youxian District Court on November 5, 2014. Evidence used at the trial included Falun Gong lecture books, Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, and two computers.
The attorney stated that these so-called pieces of evidence are the defendant's personal belongings and there was nothing to suggest that these items were used to “undermine law enforcement.”
Ms. Wan was sentenced to three years in prison on December 9, 2014. She immediately appealed for a re-trial to the Mianyang City Intermediate Court.
Ms. Wan, in her 60s, was arrested at her store on July 7, 2014. The police ransacked the place and confiscated many of her personal belongings.
Ms. Wan is incarcerated at the Mianyang Detention Center.
