(Minghui.org) Two women from Jinan City, Shandong Province are likely facing trial after the local Procuratorate indicted them and sent their cases to court on December 30 of last year.
Prior to the women's indictment, the procuratorate had twice rejected their cases citing insufficient evidence, but the local police managed to push the case forward.
Ms. Lin Xiaoyan, 58, and Ms. Liu Xinmei, 49, became police targets after a surveillance camera caught them hanging up banners with messages exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on December 31, 2013.
Less than three weeks later, the police arrested Ms. Liu and two other practitioners who were seen with them that December night. Ms. Liu and Mr. Xu Yanlong were released on bail the next day, while Ms. Chai Xinyun were later released after a relative of hers living overseas publicized the police demand of a ransom of 5 million yuan. Ms. Chai, however, was seized by police again on November 29 last year.
Ms. Lin had to live away from home after her three friends were arrested. The police issued a nationwide arrest warrant for her, and even traveled thousands of miles to her childhood home to try to find her. They eventually caught her on May 12 last year while she was riding a bus to Shanghai to visit relatives.
Ms. Lin has been held at Jinan City Detention Center since her arrest. Ms. Liu is currently awaiting trial at home. It is not clear what the police have in store for Ms. Chai.
