(Minghui.org) Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999 many Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured by being injected with or force-fed unknown substances.
Many now suffer from memory loss. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) then publishes reports in the media that practitioners are mentally unstable.
Below are reports of practitioners who were injected with or given unknown substances while illegally detained.
Needle Marks on Ms. Zhang Haixia's Arms
During Ms. Zhang Haixia's second trial on October 10, 2014, she appeared absent-minded and couldn't recognize her family members or her lawyer.
Her lawyer went to see her on December 11, 2014, and noted that Ms. Zhang's eyes looked glazed and that she was unable to recognize him. He also saw needle marks on her arms.
Ms. Zhang's condition worsened over time. She lost a lot of weight and always looked dazed.
When her lawyer went over the case with her before the trial, Ms. Zhang said, “I will listen to your advice, but I hope they don't drug me anymore or else I will not remember anything.”
Ms. Zhang, who is from the Dongli District in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on June 18, 2014.
Ms. Wang Caixia and Ms. Yue Puling Injected for 8 Days
Ms. Wang Caixia and Ms. Yue Puling were taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in May 2012.
The two practitioners were injected with unknown substances for eight days. The guards claimed that they were being given a nutrient solution.
Ms. Wang's became disoriented. She felt sick, coughed violently, had no appetite, and kept having hot and cold flashes. When she returned home, she often felt lightheaded and had memory lapses. Additionally, her reflexes had slowed down.
Ms. Yue also felt extremely uncomfortable after she was injected with the "nutrient solution." One minute she was shivering, the next feverish. She couldn't control her emotions. She kept crying and felt lightheaded.
In this state, Ms. Yue was coerced into writing a guarantee statement promising to give up her belief. In return, she was allowed to go home.
Ms. Yue was confused and could not remember anything after she got home. She had glazed eyes, experienced memory loss, and was always drowsy.
Lawyer Remembers Being Injected with Unknown Drugs
Mr. Jin Guanghong, a lawyer from Beijing, was hired to defend a practitioner.
However, he went missing, and when he resurfaced, he could not remember much about that day. He vaguely remembered being mugged while out for a walk.
When he started to regain some of his memory, he recalled that, during that time, he believes he was taken to a detention center and then transferred to a mental hospital.
Mr. Jin remembers being given drugs that led to his memory loss. He cannot remember who kidnapped him or what his kidnappers looked like.
Ms. Yang Shumei Tied Up and Injected with Unknown Drugs
Ms. Yang Shumei was arrested on March 2, 2011, and taken to the Jilin Women's Prison.
She was tied to a bed for a long time and injected with unknown drugs. She remembers people in her everyday life, but struggles with her short-term memory.
She is always confused and speaks incoherently.
Needle Marks on Mr. Wang Xingguo's Head
Mr. Wang Xingguo from Weifang City in Shandong Province disappeared for several days in June 2010.
Officials from the local civil administration office told his family to take him home on June 18.
At the time, he looked disorientated and his faced was discolored. He had also lost a lot of weight. He couldn't remember much and had forgotten that he worked in Changyi City.
Before his disappearance, he was very healthy and had a good memory. Now, he cannot take care of himself.
When he was able to recall the incident, he said, “The police covered my eyes and gave me an injection.” He pointed at his head and his family could see needle marks. The area was tender and red.
Ms. Liu Zhimei Behaves Abnormally and Loses Memory
Ms. Liu Zhimei was born into a poor family in Sanqing Village, Laiyang City, Shandong Province. When she was 17, her grades at school were the top in Shandong Province, and she was accepted by Tsinghua University into the chemical engineering program.
She was sentenced to a 12-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong and detained at the Shandong Province Women's Prison.
She was released on November 13, 2008. On the train ride home, she told her father that, three days before her release, she was given a physical She was told she had a hole in her tooth and was given an injection.
On her third day at home, Ms. Liu suddenly started to behave strangely, and her condition worsened. She became restless and spoke incoherently. She could not stop twitching. She soon lost her memory.
Ms. Sun Yun Suspects Her Food Was Laced with Unknown Substances
Ms. Sun Yun is a certified accountant. She was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in 2008.
She was tortured, force-fed, and given food that she suspected was laced with drugs. She became dizzy, vomited, and had memory loss. Her mind and reflexes did not function well after that.
Ms. Dong Xiulan Given “Funny” Ginger Drink
Ms. Dong Xiulan, 68, from Lanzhou, Gansu Province, was taken to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center in Gansu in July 2007. She was detained there for two years.
When she had a high fever in 2009, guards gave her a hot ginger drink that she said tasted “funny.” She felt dizzy and vomited.
After returning home, her vision was blurry and she gradually lost her memory.
Ms. Zhang Yulian Diagnosed with Schizophrenia
Ms. Zhang Yulian was taken to the Hefei Women's Forced Labor Camp in July 2001. She was transferred to Section 6 of the Hefei Fourth People's Hospital, a psychiatric hospital, in early August.
A doctor injected her with unknown drugs on the first night. She became nauseous, developed headaches, and lost consciousness. She woke up several days later and only remembered that the guards had shocked her in her temples with an electric needle and forced-fed her through her nose.
A month and a half later, her family were informed that she had schizophrenia and that they could take her home.
Ms Zhang used to work as an operator in a microprocessor office in the Hefei City Steel Enterprise Company in Anhui Province.
Mr. Fu Yao Injected With Unknown Drugs
Mr. Fu Yao from Shuangcheng City in Heilongjiang Province was taken to a psychiatric hospital in Harbin City on April 24, 2004, where he was injected with unknown drugs. He lost consciousness and suffered from memory loss for seven years.
He recalled being in a hospital for 21 days, and remembered being injected daily with unknown drugs that made him feel lightheaded. He drooled, hallucinated, and couldn't sleep.
Ms. Yu Zhenjie Speaks Up During Press Conference in New York
Ms. Yu Zhenjie, a former resident of Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, emigrated to the United States. During a press conference in New York, she said that she was tortured while in detention in China for refusing to renounce her belief.
She was injected with unknown substances, which caused excruciating pain in her abdomen and back. She fainted, and when she regained consciousness, she could not remember anything. She later learned that she had been injected with drugs that affected the central nervous system.
