(Minghui.org) When I was released from six years in prison, I immediately started to read the Dafa books and do the exercises again. Most importantly, I thought about what to do to get the word out about the persecution of Falun Gong and how I could most effectively cooperate with local practitioners.
Solving Technical Problems
There was no one in our area that could solve technical problems, such as installing computer systems or maintaining printers, so I decided to educate myself to take on this role.
Smartphone technology was not readily available in our area and practitioners still used the older mobile technology, which could not handle multimedia messaging. So I concentrated on smartphone technology and purchased some second-hand smartphones.
Once I understood how to operate them, I taught other practitioners. I wrote instructions that helped older practitioners especially This solved a lot of problems not just for us, but also for practitioners in other areas.
Filling a Gap
A local coordinator was arrested and detained for almost a year. The practitioner's family refused to provide information about her arrest, sentence, or detention, which meant that the details of what she had been subjected to had not been reported on the Minghui website.
We learned that practitioners in the surrounding regions had done well covering the persecution and the articles they submitted to Minghui were well written. In our region, the editor of Minghui Weekly could not report on the persecution, because no one was able to write articles.
The plight of this local coordinator made me remember all that I had suffered in prison. I thought about what she must be going through. We needed to document who was responsible for persecuting her. This gave me the impetus to report on the persecution in my area.
Using Our Own Names to Report on the Persecution
To help other practitioners write articles about the persecution, I needed to overcome my own fear and address their concerns. We had to report on the persecution and eliminate the old forces from other dimensions that used the perpetrators to attack us.
After Ms. Yin Liping published an article under her real name and described her ordeal when she was put into a male cell in Masanja Forced Labor Camp, the overseas media reported it and those involved in this were rattled. That made us decide to use our real names when we wrote articles about those imprisoned in detention centers or forced labor camps.
It was not easy to write articles about practitioners that had been released, as many of them were afraid of the authorities and were concerned about getting into more trouble.
My first article was about the local coordinator who was still in prison. First I needed to collect information. Surprisingly, the two older practitioners who helped me provided information from their own persecution and agreed to publish it. I compiled and edited their articles and sent them to Minghui.
Soon after they were published, more practitioners provided information about how they had been persecuted, and several more articles were published.
Some articles were written with vivid details about the crimes committed by the local police. One article was about the deputy head of the municipal Political and Legal Affairs Committee being imprisoned. These articles quickly helped to improve the local environment and a righteous field was established.
The local police tried to harass practitioners who wrote the articles by going to their homes. But they soon stopped after more articles were published.
Improvement of the One-Body
After I helped practitioners write their articles, I was asked why I didn't write my own. I realized that, if I didn't publish my own account, it would have a negative impact on the project. In fact, I had written an article shortly after I was released, but didn't use my real name and the article was not published.
With my newly gained understanding on what Master taught about exposing the evil, I rewrote the article, sent it to Minghui, and it was published. The article exposed the persecution and showed how the practitioners in my family were determined to stand up for their belief.
Once local practitioners read my article, we seemed to cooperate better. We felt that practitioners in our region improved as one-body. Those who hadhesitated to write about their own experiences of persecution eventually came forward and shared them for publication.
Most of the practitioners who used their real names for their articles felt that their xinxing had improved.
Letting Go of Attachments
While we were improving as a whole, some of my attachments that had been buried deep down started to come to the surface. I had conflicts with fellow practitioners who pointed out my attachments.
Master said, “For a cultivator, looking within is a magical tool.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Washington DC International Fa Conference”)
I looked within and realized that I had a show-off mentality and the attachment of zealotry. I thought that I understood the Fa more clearly than others. When practitioners pointed out my attachments, I did not accept the criticism. During discussions, I had a strong competitive mentality and lacked compassion. I then found more and more attachments, such as fear, jealousy, and resentment.
Every attachment is a stumbling block on our cultivation path. I realized that, as long as we are determined to get rid of them, Master will help remove the fundamental root. All we need to do is remove the stuff on the surface through solid cultivation.
When I let go of my attachments, I saw everything from a different angle. Every practitioner has his or her own perspective on compassion and forgiveness. We all have many moving stories to tell. If we don't write them down, they can never be shared.
I am no longer involved in solving computer and printer problems. Another practitioner who is more capable has taken over that task as well the smartphone project. I now concentrate on reporting on the persecution on the Internet.
