(Minghui.org) My grandmother told me many cultivation stories when I was little. The stories fascinated me, and I dreamed of taking up cultivation myself to gain the insight and wisdom of the deities in those stories.
As time went by, I became busy with my life and forgot my childhood dream. I was later reminded of the brevity and fragility of life when my father passed away, and I resumed my search for the true meaning of life.
On a business trip to the United States ten years ago, I was introduced to Falun Dafa cultivation practice, and through that experience I gained a new outlook on life.
I regretted that I was starting Falun Dafa cultivation practice so late. To make up for the time lost, I seized every moment to read Dafa books and tell other people about the goodness of the practice. I also urged them to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which is violently persecuting Falun Dafa in China, and even killing practitioners to sell their organs for profit.
Making Up for Lost Time
I began the process of memorizing Dafa books, as recommended by other practitioners. I memorized a paragraph, then studied it sentence by sentence. This helped me to remain focused as I studied. When I read Dafa books, I felt that my body was being opened up, and I felt very comfortable.
Having such a wonderful experience practicing Falun Dafa, I decided to spend more of my spare time telling people about the CCP's persecution of the practice. As such, I gave up an opportunity to go overseas to work, and also declined many offers to write and publish my manuscripts.
Learning to Print Pamphlets About Falun Dafa
My earliest efforts in telling people about the persecution involved printing informational materials myself.
I could print only single pages at first, but when a fellow practitioner showed me a pamphlet that was left at his door, I was impressed and wanted to do that as well.
I learned how to make pamphlets through reading the Minghui website. Due to my lack of experience, I got ink powder all over my hands and the floor, and the printer often malfunctioned. After going through several printers, I mastered the production of quality pamphlets.
Distributing Informational Materials
I made copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, Shen Yun DVDs, and software that allowed people to circumvent China's Internet firewall, so they could view overseas websites. A fellow practitioner was initially responsible for distributing these materials.
When I first went out to distribute the materials myself, I noticed my fear mounting. The greater my fear, the more signs of danger I saw. In one residential district, I turned around and saw a police car patrolling the area. After walking further, I saw a parked police car near the street with its lights flashing. My heart fluttered uncontrollably. I sent forth righteous thoughts all the way home, but my heart did not settle down for quite a while.
To eliminate my fear, I read experience sharing articles written by fellow practitioners, memorized Master's poem “What's to Fear?” and forced myself to go out no matter what. Advertising is everywhere nowadays. Why can't I distribute information about Falun Dafa and the persecution in an upright, dignified manner?
When I thought this way, my heart settled down. Everything became natural and smooth, and I no longer felt relief and elation after distributing the materials.
I often put pamphlets in the baskets of parked bicycles. When one middle-aged woman returned to her bike, I said to her, “Oh, I just put a pamphlet in your basket.” She replied, “Alright.” She put the merchandise she had just purchased in the basket, and left.
On another occasion, I saw an older man picking up my pamphlets from all the bicycle baskets for recycling. I caught up to him, took back the pamphlets, and told him I had just given them out. He apologized, and subsequently picked up only the ads from the baskets, and left my pamphlets alone.
In the process of distributing materials, I also eliminated my attachment to reputation. I have a position in society that many would respect and envy. Yet now I'm distributing Dafa pamphlets on the street. No matter what people might think, I realized that I was a cultivator, and was distributing these materials to inform the public of the relentless persecution, a noble and upright deed.
Talking to People Face to Face about Falun Dafa
I work in a government agency that plays a major role in persecuting and slandering Falun Dafa on behalf of the Communist Party. Many people are deceived by the propaganda, so it is important that I talk to people about this topic.
For instance, while talking to a section chief, I didn't urge her to quit the Party right away. I instead started by mentioning the paper money I received that bore messages about the persecution, mentioned the software I used to circumvent Internet censorship, and discussed the wave of people withdrawing from the Party.
Our conversation next turned to the arrests of Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang, two primary perpetrators of the persecution, and the masterminds behind killing Falun Dafa practitioners to harvest their organs for profit. I told her about their crimes, and how their arrests were a reflection of karmic retribution.
When I finally offered to help her quit the Party organizations, she didn't say anything, but gave a firm nod.
I later sat next to a lady on a flight home from a trip to the United States. She had lived in the States for ten years, and was going back to China to visit her husband's grave.
I told her about Falun Dafa and its healing power when she mentioned her heart ailments.
She was terrified and said, “We can't talk about it. It's against China.”
I asked her, “Who told you that?”
She replied, “Our local Chinese Association. It also says that in the local Chinese newspaper.”
I told her about how the communist government staged a self-immolation on Tiananmen Square in 2001, carried out by people it hired pretending to be Falun Dafa practitioners.
I reminded her, “Didn't you just tell me you don't believe the Communist Party? Why did you believe its lies about this issue? They're even brainwashing overseas Chinese people!”
She paused, and seemed to be thinking.
I continued, “If Falun Dafa is like what the Communist Party described, why do so many people practice it? Many practitioners in the States are highly educated. Do you think they can be easily fooled? I was deceived just like you in the past. After I tried it myself, I realized that Falun Dafa was a cultivation practice that improves both mind and body.”
She nodded, “Now I understand.”
