(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Ling from Bozhou, Anhui Province was tried on April 21 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.
She testified to how Falun Gong helped her regain health. In particular, she developed a tumor in her uterus while being detained for refusing to give up her belief in 2013. She was released on medical parole when she was in critical condition. The tumor eventually disappeared, as she kept doing the Falun Gong exercises at home.
Ms. Wang's miraculous recovery however led to her latest arrest on October 22 of last year. She was subsequently tortured at the police station and later in the detention center for holding firm to her belief. The guards beat her when she did the Falun Gong exercises or refused to sign documents renouncing her belief. They also threatened to send her to prison if she still refused to sever ties with Falun Gong.
Her head hurt so much from the beatings that she sometimes couldn't help but shake her head. In addition, the abuse had recently resulted in a relapse of her uterine fibroid.
Despite her worrisome health condition, the detention center denied her medical care and proceeded to put her on trial.
The judge was unable to refute Ms. Wang's argument that she broke no law by practicing Falun Gong, but he refused to acquit her.
Ms. Wang remains incarcerated at Bozhou City Detention Center.
