(Minghui.org) Twenty Falun Gong practitioners from Pingdingshan City of Henan Province filed criminal charges against Jiang Zemin, former leader of the Chinese Communist regime.
The individual complaints were submitted to the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate through express mail between May 30 and June 5, 2015.
The practitioners charged Jiang with ordering the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, under which practitioners are illegally imprisoned, tortured, and deprived of their incomes.
Below are excerpts selected from the criminal complaints.
Mr. Cheng Held in Labor Camp, Wife Detained
Mr. Chen Pengfei, 60, from Fengjie County, Sichuan Province, went to Beijing to petition the central government for the right to practice Falun Gong in October 1999. The police arrested him before he entered the Beijing Appellate Center.
He was detained for six months, put on administrative leave from his job, and deprived of his salary for a year. To turn his coworkers against him, the 610 Office ordered his workplace to withhold bonuses from all employees for one year.
When Mr. Chen worked in another city in 2001, local officials and agents from the 610 Office detained his wife in a mental hospital, leaving their six-year-old son unattended at home.
Mr. Chen was sentenced to 18 months at Xuchang Labor Camp in 2008 and detained again in 2014.
His wife was detained for over a month in 2004 and imprisoned for four years in 2014.
Mr. Jiang Held in Labor Camp
Mr. Jiang Junfeng, 50, a former instructor at a vocational technical school, was fired from his job and detained for two weeks in July 1999 for appealing in Beijing for the right to practice Falun Gong.
He was sentenced that November to three years in a forced labor camp, where he contracted tuberculosis that left him unconscious for three days.
When he contacted lawyers on behalf of other detained practitioners, he was detained in September 2014.
Since the onset of the persecution, Mr. Jiang was detained three times, taken to a brainwashing center twice, imprisoned in a labor camp for three years, and had his home ransacked by police three times.
Mr. Jia and Wife Harassed for Years
Mr. Jia Xinmin, a former military officer, was detained for 75 days in 2000 and beaten by guards. In exchange for his release, officials extorted his entire savings of 20,000 yuan from his wife. The 610 Office continues to harass the couple.
