Tim MacDonald, the host of parade, introduced the Falun Dafa procession to the crowds of spectators as they passed by, mentioning that Falun Dafa is a traditional Chinese practice guided by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Those who practice Falun Dafa, he commented, can benefit both physically and spiritually and is now practiced in more than 100 countries. "For more information on Falun Dafa, visit falundafa.org.”
The Falun Dafa entry was made up of the Divine Land Marching Band, waist drummers, an exercise demonstration, and a lotus flower float.
Douglas Horne, Member of British Columbia Parliament, said with pride that this annual parade was Coquitlam's most successful community event. He commented that the presence of Falun Dafa was a clear indication of Canada's commitment to freedom of belief. He was pleased to see Chinese groups participating and that different cultural values were being celebrated.
Many local Chinese residents came out to soak up the sun and enjoy the parade. Two young Chinese women seemed delighted to see the Falun Dafa procession and shouted, “Falun Dafa is great!”
