(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, but improved slowly because I did not study the Fa wholeheartedly. Because I had poor enlightenment quality, I struggled for a long time to overcome my tribulations.
One night I felt a toothache on the right side of my mouth. When I awoke the next morning, half of my face was swollen and I could barely eat. To make a living I took a cart around selling goods, and as I worked, I told people about the persecution of Falun Gong. On this morning, I wore a mouth mask to cover up the swelling.
Around noon I felt something inside my mouth poking my cheek. It turned out that a couple of teeth were breaking up. My gums were rotten. I spit out the broken teeth, yet did not feel any pain. One of my customers saw this and suggested that I go to the hospital. I told him that I was fine. I was back to normal four days later.
I then started feeling pain on the other side of my mouth, and the gums hurt even more. I still did not pay much attention to it. I went out to sell goods as usual. My mouth felt normal again in three days.
I was so happy to have overcome this tribulation that I became overjoyed. This led to another tribulation. I couldn't bite using my lower teeth – they just gave way when I did. My husband took me to a dentist, who told me that my gums were very diseased, and all my teeth needed to be pulled. At that moment, I remembered Master's words:
“But how could a divine being have ordinary people administer treatment on him? And how could ordinary people heal a divine being's sickness? These are Fa principles. But often the case is that you really don't come across as having all that strong of righteous thoughts. When you can't handle yourself well, then go ahead. If your mind is unsteady, that means you are not meeting the standard to begin with, and prolonging the process won't lead to any changes. And if someone holds out for the purpose of saving face, that is adding attachments on top of attachments. In such cases there are only two choices: You either go to the hospital and thus give up on trying to overcome the test, or you completely let go of everything, behave like an upstanding and noble Dafa disciple who has no resentment or attachments, and leave it to Master to arrange whether you stay or go. When you are able to do that, you are a god.” (“Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles”)
So I made up my mind to go home. I said to my family, “I will not get help anywhere. I will only listen to Master.”
Master said,
“And whether you can cultivate, that all depends on whether you can endure, whether you can make sacrifices, and whether you can take the hardship. If you’re able to steel your will, no difficulty can block you, and I’d say it’ll be no problem.” (Zhuan Falun)
Master's words strengthened my righteous thoughts.
I believed that teeth are also lives and I should communicate with them. So I talked to them. I thanked them for doing a better job for me after I practiced Dafa, since my teeth were much worse before. I also asked them to cooperate with me as I go through the final stage of the Fa rectification, so that they will have a bright future.
From then on, I no longer paid attention to my teeth, and instead just did what I should do every day. My teeth have since been doing well.
Another big tribulation I had was severe pain during the sitting medication. I cannot describe how painful my legs were. The pain attacked me in waves. After I endured one attack, another would come. But I was very determined and always recited Master's words, “It’s hard to endure, but you can endure it. It’s hard to do, but you can do it.” (Zhuan Falun) I have now successfully overcome this tribulation.
I enlightened that these experiences are part of the process of keeping a steadfast belief in Dafa and Master, plus enduring hardship. We can overcome any difficulty or tribulation by doing so.
