(Minghui.org) Mr. Li Zhiqing was sentenced to four years imprisonment on April 1, 2015. He and his family filed an appeal, which was denied.
Li Wenduo, deputy chair at the Dezhou City Intermediate People's Court, Li Jinsheng, head of the Criminal Court, and judge Xu Wanbiao, formed a collegial panel of judges on June 20, 2015. They claimed to evaluate the need for a retrial of Mr. Li's case.
Mr. Li's lawyer, friends and family submitted evidence to prove that practicing Falun Gong is legal in China. And they requested an immediate retrial and the acquittal of Mr. Li.
However, the Intermediate People's Court collegial panel disregarded the law, ignored the evidence and denied a retrial.
Li's lawyer filed an appeal with the Dezhou City People's Procuratorate against the panel of judges. He asked that the three judges not sit in judgment of Mr. Li's case.
