But they didn't understand that I have gained so much from cultivating, way more than the little bit of personal interest I've given up.
I learned the real purpose of life after starting to practice. In this world full of material interests and a lack of morality, I have the principles of Falun Gong to guide me so I never lose my way. My body and mind continue to improve as I experience the wonderfulness of the practice.
My health was a mess before I was a practitioner. I sought out a lot of medical treatments and even tried qigong, but nothing could ease my asthma.
One day I saw practitioners in a park doing the exercises. A practitioner talked to me about Falun Gong for a few minutes. Afterwards, I went on a business trip and whenever I found time to relax, I felt a stream of strong energy rushing from head to toe. It felt so comfortable like nothing else I had experienced. I remembered Falun Gong and bought one of the books when I returned home. After reading a few pages, the energy got stronger. I was determined to learn it.
Later, I attended Master Li Hongzhi's lecture sessions and heard profound principles that I never knew before. The way I saw the world has changed ever since then.
One day in 1997, I had a serious asthma attack. I couldn't move at all. My lungs stopped working and my heart was in great distress. But I knew that I was paying back karma and wasn't afraid at all. My body suffered greatly, but my mind was clear and in good spirits. Forty days later, I suddenly felt so comfortable and the symptoms completely vanished.
When I was still in the military, it was normal for me to take bribes while on business trips. It became so common that not taking bribes seemed awkward. After I began to cultivate, I tried to return the bribes, but if I couldn't, I donated them to my workplace.
Over the years, I turned in over 20,000 yuan. At the time my salary was a bit over 1,000 yuan a month and I couldn't even afford decent furniture at home.
Master constantly reminds me and will not allow me to cheat for personal gain. Once a rock cracked my windshield. A repairman suggested that I wait and buy insurance first before I fixed the car. This way, the insurance company would pay for the windshield. I went ahead and bought the insurance and got the insurance company to pay 800 yuan for the repair. Oddly enough, I couldn't find my car keys when I was going home. I had to have the lock changed in order to drive home and it cost me exactly 800 yuan. I suddenly realized my mistake in trying to spare myself the cost of the windshield repair.
When we align ourselves with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in all things, we have nothing to fear or regret. This brings a happiness that money cannot buy.
