(Minghui.org) Attachments are something that Falun Dafa practitioners need to let go of, be it the attachment to sentiment, food, lust, jealousy or any other attachments.
Attachment to Food
Master said,
“In order to fill his stomach, he ate whatever was available to him; it would not matter, as long as he just wanted to fill up his stomach and was without attachment to any particular food.” (Zhuan Falun)
The purpose of eating is to maintain our lives. It is a desire and attachment if we take it as an enjoyment in and of itself.
Lust
Master said,
“In ordinary human society, because of this marital life, humankind can produce its descendants.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
A main purpose of marital life for a cultivator is to produce descendants. It is a desire and attachment otherwise.
Jealousy
Master said,
“There is a principle in this universe called, "no loss, no gain." To gain, one must lose.” (Zhuan Falun)
If there are no pains, there are no gains. A person will lose the equivalent of virtue if he or she gets things that do not belong to him or her. The universal principles balance everything, so what is the point of being jealous of others?
Attachment of Showing off
Master said,
“Fa-rectification required your wisdom to reach that point, so you definitely shouldn't think that you're so capable. Some practitioners want me to check out their abilities and skills. But actually, what I think is, all of that was given by me, so there's no need to look.” (“Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference”)
For a Dafa cultivator, all special abilities and skills were given to us by Master. The purpose is to validate the Fa and save sentient beings. We should have a humble and grateful heart and be thankful to Master and Dafa. How could we show off abilities that were given by Master and Dafa?
