(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Xiaobo from Chengdu is now locked up in the 9th Ward at Jiazhou Prison in Leshan City. At his trial in April 2015, he was sentenced to eight years for practicing Falun Gong. His lawyer's request to visit Mr. Liu was denied on December 29. The denial came from the 610 Office, an illegal organization that has full control over any issue related to Falun Gong.
A month before Mr. Liu's arrest, the Canadian Consulate in Beijing asked that Mr. Liu be allowed to speak to his son Li Jie, who is a Canadian citizen. The consulate also petitioned Sichuan prison authorities to release Mr. Liu. The prison warden refused to respond to the calls.
