(Minghui.org) The Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong remains unabated, as two more citizens were recently sentenced to prison for refusing to renounce the spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Mr. Zhao Haijun is appealing his 8-year sentence, while Ms. Li Lizhen is fighting to get her 2.5-year sentence overturned.
Mr. Zhao is a resident of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He was arrested on May 6, 2016 and was tried on August 26. His family was notified on September 23 that he was sentenced to 8 years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan for his faith.
Ms. Li Lizhen is a resident of Tieling County, Liaoning Province. She was first arrested in March 2014 for distributing information about Falun Gong. The police hung a heavy bucket around her neck and smeared chill pepper power into her eyes, nose and mouth. She left home to avoid future arrests after she was released on bail 15 days later.
Ms. Li was seized again on May 6, 2016, a few months after she returned home. She was tried in August and later sentenced to 2.5 years in prison.
