Editor’s note: The environment in mainland China is filled with Communist Party culture. Immersed in such an environment, one is influenced by Party culture without realizing it. This 8-part series explores some commonly seen problems among practitioners that may be attributable to the Party culture. We hope it serves as a reminder as we work to break free from the grip of the communist party.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has instilled decadent ideologies into Chinese people during its decades of rule. One of the most harmful of its doctrines is fighting.
The Importance of Courtesy
Communist theory is based on conflict. It ranges from one group of people fighting another group to family members fighting each other.
This contradicts traditional Chinese culture, in which mutual respect and understanding were always appreciated. But the Communist Party changed everything. It encourages people to compete and fight with each other constantly.
Deep in our minds, we know that people should be courteous, empathetic, and kind to each other. This applies to the relationship between husband and wife, to educating our children, and in other social contexts.
The Harm of Fighting
In “Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa” in Teaching the Fa at the Conference XI, Master said:
“There is something I have observed during the Fa-rectification: in dimensions where the Fa-rectification has yet to arrive, sometimes when a Dafa disciple’s thoughts are quite righteous, there is a righteous god or righteous elements present, serving to reinforce his righteous thoughts. Then at other times, when Dafa disciples do not cooperate well, or get angry and lose their temper, I can see that certain degenerate beings, some of which are rather large, are present, adding to it; and also at work are those layers upon layers of bad beings at various lower levels that [the practitioners’ thoughts] have aligned with. Haven’t I taught that people have both a good and bad side?”
Under the influence of these notions, vicious elements may take advantage of these practitioners and create more problems associated with a bad temper, complaining, lust, gossip, jealousy, lying, and fear.
After one practitioner was detained and then released, her husband was afraid that she might face further persecution, so they closed their business and moved to another city. However, her temper became even worse. I was able to see that vicious elements in other dimensions were manipulating her to fight whoever went to talk with her. Later, I heard she was arrested again. In fact, it was not just officials doing bad things; part of the reason was her demonic nature.
Another practitioner started to practice Falun Dafa in 1996. But he hardly read the books or did the exercises until 2013. He often skipped sending forth righteous thoughts and seldom went out to tell people about Falun Dafa. In addition, from time to time, he was lazy, greedy, and deceitful. When his parents said he did not follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he shouted at them and said Master would take care of him.
Work on Tolerance
In Zhuan Falun and his other lectures, Master has talked many times of forbearance. We should keep that in mind and maintain a compassionate heart when it comes to other people.
If we are able to consider things from other people's perspectives and learn to improve our xinxing, we would do things better.
Master has given us many opportunities, and any tribulation or difficulty is a chance for us to improve ourselves.
