(Minghui.org) The Guangzong County District Court in Hebei Province held the second hearing for Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Lu Gang and Ms. Cai Yun on September 12, 2016.
Mr. Lu and Ms. Cai were handcuffed and shackled when they arrived in the courtroom, and tied to their chairs to prevent them from moving. The lawyers protested and demanded that the practitioners be uncuffed and unshackled immediately, contending that they had committed no crimes and should not be treated this way. After one hour of back and forth, the shackles were removed.
“My son did not commit any crime,” said Ms. Lu to the judge. “Why was he not released?”
A few court marshals removed her from the courtroom. Her husband went to help her and accidentally knocked over a table. A court martial ordered others to arrest him.
Their lawyers negotiated with the court, demanding that Mr. Lu's father be released immediately. The police brought him back, but would release him only if he apologized in writing. The father refused and was again taken away. The court notified the mother in the afternoon that the father was to be detained for 15 days.
Mr. Lu's mother collapsed from the stressful situation.
Someone reported the situation to the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Guangzong County. The court was concerned and took the mother to the hospital for a checkup. They then drove her home, but demanded that she dismiss the lawyer.
Many practitioners went to witness the trial, but the court staff tried to stop them from entering.
When told that their actions were illegal, one staff member said, “Don't you talk about the law with me.”
Someone in the crowd commented, “How can you call it a court if you don't talk about the law?”
