(Minghui.org) A total of 1,511 Chenzhou City residents have signed a petition calling for release of a local woman sentenced to 7 years for using a cult to undermine law enforcement, a standard pretext used by the Chinese communist regime to frame Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Li Jumei, 58, recovered from her incurable bone cancer shortly after she began practicing Falun Gong. She never shied away from telling people that the persecution of Falun Gong is wrong. Her simple act landed her in police custody on multiple occasions. She was twice given forced labor, suspended from her job as a teacher, and later denied retirement benefits.
Her husband, also a Falun Gong practitioner, died from police beatings in 2009. Ms. Li filed a criminal complaint in June 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution that resulted in her husband’s death and her repeated arrests.
Ms. Li was arrested again four months later. The Jiahe County Court sentenced her to 7 years in prison after three hearings. Her appeal has recently been turned down.
She is awaiting prison transfer at Chenzhou City No.1 Detention Center.
