(Minghui.org) Before former teacher Ms. Pei Shanzhen was released from prison, the authorities threatened to arrest her again if she filed any future complaints against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Pei, 72, was recently released from Shanghai Women's Prison on December 13, 2016. She was pale, thin, and needed support to walk.
She was previously arrested on June 14, 2012, for writing letters to her neighbors about Falun Gong and the persecution, and later sentenced to four-and-a-half-years in prison.
During incarceration, the prison authorities tortured Ms. Pei and forced her to attend brainwashing sessions aimed at forcing her to renounce Falun Gong.
Ms. Pei has been incarcerated for more than ten years in total since the communist regime began its persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
She was arrested for a third time in 2001 for lending a Falun Gong video lecture to someone, for which she was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Her home was ransacked and she was charged with “disrupting the social order.”
She was also sentenced to a four-year prison term in 2005 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials.
