(Minghui.org) Mr. Han Guohai remains detained following his arrest on January 25, 2016 for suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong.
The 50-year-old man from Gaizhou City mailed out his criminal complaint against Jiang in 2015. The police ransacked his home twice on October 22, 2015 and threatened to arrest him if he still refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
Mr. Han fled home to avoid arrest, only to be seized three months later after being reported to police. Upon learning of his arrest, many people have signed a petition calling for his release.
The petition reads, “Han Guoai is a resident of our Songshu Village. He is a kind and hard-working man. He wasn’t like this in the past though. We knew him as a bad tempered husband who treated his wife badly. He also smoked and drank all the time. He changed to a totally different person after he began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. He now enjoys a happy marriage and also gets along well with us. He never turns down any request for help and has done a lot of good deeds.”
The petition demands that the authorities investigate Mr. Han’s case to prove his innocence, as he broke no law by seeking justice against Jiang.
Background Information
Jiang Zemin, as head of the CCP, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief, and even killed for their organs. Jiang is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides the police and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's policy regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising this right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
