(Minghui.org) Southern Taiwan Volunteer Sports Games were held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on December 3 as part of the celebration of International Volunteer Day on December 5. The Falun Gong Tian Guo Marching Band was chosen to lead the 130-plus participating groups into Chung Cheng Stadium for the event.
Hsu Hui-Mei, founder of the International Association for Volunteers in Kaohsiung, praised the band in front of over 10,000 spectators, saying, “We thank the Falun Dafa group for the energy and spirit they bring.” The band received the Spirit Award twice in previous years and this year was awarded Best of Show.
Tian Guo Marching Band was awarded Best of Show at the Southern Taiwan Volunteer Sports Games on December 3, 2016.
The Tian Guo Marching Band led the participating groups.
“We are honored to have the Tian Guo Marching Band here to make our event unique and memorable,” announced Ms. Hsu.
Event host Hsu Hui-Mei, founder of International Association for Volunteers in Kaohsiung, praised the band.
Officials: The Band Inspires
Yeh Yuru, deputy director of the Department of Social Welfare said, “The band has brought us great music. Right now there over 2000 volunteering groups with over 100,000 volunteers. We have all witnessed their positive attitude and have been moved by their tireless efforts.”
Chuang Yuezhu, president of Association for Volunteer Services in Kaohsiung, agreed, saying, “The band is an inspiring addition to our sports games today.”
General Manager Impressed by the Band
Shen Mei-li, the general manager of a chain of beauty salons in Kaohsiung, said the music from Tian Guo Marching Band was uplifting.
Every year her team offers complimentary haircuts for volunteers to thank them for their contribution to society. She said she was impressed by Falun Dafa practitioners' efforts and energetic performances.
