(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners screened two award-winning films in Gothenburg, Sweden, on January 23, 2016, the night of the Gothenburg Culture Festival. Free China: The Courage to Believe and Transcending Fear: The Story of Gao Zhisheng played to a full house, despite the cold and snow covering the city.
Some viewers were moved to tears, and most of them signed the petition to support the lawsuits being filed against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong, as they left.
One audience member, Camilla, said, “I am shocked. I now see China from another angle. I did not know that there was an ongoing, large scale persecution in China.”
Danilla Mendoza, a student from Mexico, said, “I think the films are very good. They can reach people and make them aware. I truly believe that support from the international community can exert pressure on the Chinese government.” She hoped it would lead to a change in the current situation. She said she was very sympathetic to those being persecuted in China and wished she could do more to help.
Dutchana Lindfelt said, “It is horrible to think that anyone could harvest organs from the living. I will tell my colleagues about these films, and also my acquaintances in the medical profession. I believe that many organ transplants are from practitioners. I am very touched. So horrible!”
“I went to China in 2013,” said Tage Tagde, another viewer. “My impressions of China were based on the mass media and the Olympic games. I know that communism has no respect for basic human rights, but nothing can compare to these crimes.” He said it was incredible what is still taking place in China. He said he had heard about the persecution of Falun Gong, but was unaware of the brutality revealed in the films.
Another viewer, Eva Rolin, said, “I am so moved. I cannot imagine how anyone could do such things. It is horrible. To torture people so brutally--those who are responsible simply are not human anymore, they have no conscience. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.”
