(Minghui.org) My heart is heavy after reading “Additional Notice on Putting Up Door Hangers (with Comment from Master).” Falun Dafa practitioners are cultivators. Our thoughts should be higher, and our behavior should be civilized; these are minimum requirements for cultivators.
Shen Yun performances are the finest in the world. They are most solemn and holy because Shen Yun travels the world on a mission of offering salvation to sentient beings. The behavior and demeanor of those who promote Shen Yun should also be of the highest standard.
However, several inappropriate behaviors were displayed while promoting Shen Yun. Every Falun Dafa cultivator, including those in China, should look inward and ask ourselves whether we have truly followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
What kind of attitude and behavior should we have in order to save sentient beings? The following is my understanding.
I. Elevating One's Thinking
To be true cultivators and fulfill our missions, practitioners must meet the requirements of the Fa.
Our behaviors should manifest the principles of Truthfulness-Compassio-Forbearance. For example, Truthfulness is manifested in being open and honest, not taking advantage of anyone, and not being secretive. Compassion is manifested in respect, understanding, thoughtfulness, and gentleness. Forbearance is manifested in being humble, following the rules, observing the laws, and being moral.
From Master's teachings, we know Truthfulness has Compassion in it, Compassion has Forbearance in it, and Forbearance has Truthfulness in it. When we are sincere, we can understand others and put their interests before ours. Because of Compassion, we are responsible for others and never force anything on anyone. If a practitioner studies the Fa well, he will be clearly understand this. However, because of our strong attachments, we often forget these basic principles and resort to any means to achieve our goal. Thus, sometimes the results turn out to be the opposite.
II. Making Decisions Based on Respect
Every person wants to be respected. Mutual respect is the basis for communicating with others.
Being respectful means being understanding, inclusive, and polite. A cultivator has compassion and must respect others. We should follow the rules and avoid invading others' personal space.
An ancient Chinese poem says, “She threw a quince to me; I gave her a green jade.” It means whatever ones gives to others, one will get in return. It's common sense to treat others the same way you would want to be treated. When we mind our behavior and respect others, they will respect and appreciate us.
When we drink water from someone's home without asking permission, what kind of image are we displaying? It's rude. When we enter a sanitary hospital room without permission, we are violating hospital rules. Observing the rules and respecting privacy is basic etiquette in any civilized society. We have to know our boundaries and not force ourselves upon others. Doing otherwise may hurt our reputation.
III. Politely Offering Salvation to Sentient Beings
Let's start with minor details, such as hygiene, the way we communicate, and observing public order. How we conduct ourselves reflects our quality and realm of thought.
All traditional cultures and orthodox religions teach noble behavior and high moral standards. If we realize that our behavior is not polite or even in line with everyday etiquette, we should carefully read “Disintegrate the Party Culture,” “Talking About Party Culture,” and related materials. Let's look at ourselves and search for any Party culture of ignoring the rules to gain quick success. Any inappropriate behavior unveils some self-centered mentality. Improving our xinxing is the only way to break away from these inappropriate behaviors, uplift our realm, and establish ourselves in a civilized society. These are issues upon which we should all improve.
To sum it up, the way we promote Shen Yun should match the superior quality of the shows. Everyone involved must follow a high standard and walk a righteous path in order to save sentient beings.
