(Minghui.org) The staged “self-immolation on Tiananmen Square” on January 23, 2001, deceived the Chinese people and the world's people and slandered Falun Gong. It will most likely become one of the Chinese Communist Party's signature lies, similar to, “Confucius poisoned people for 1000 years” and “The Taiwanese people are living in an abyss of suffering.”
The Reason for the Tiananmen Curfew
I was once chatting with a colleague when I mentioned the “self-immolation on Tiananmen Square.” I was about to tell him it was staged, when he smiled at me knowingly and said, “It's fake!” I asked him how he knew. He replied, “Tiananmen Square was under a curfew before the 'self-immolation' took place. One of my friends was planning to visit the square before he left Beijing that day. He wasn't allowed in, and was yelled at when he asked why. After watching the TV report about the alleged self-immolation, he realized it happened shortly after he was there.”
The sudden, unannounced curfew was in place so that the staged “self-immolation” could be filmed. People easily saw through the well-planned, top-secret-of-the-nation hoax. The Chinese have a saying, “Paper can't wrap fire,” meaning the truth will be revealed sooner or later.
Well-Planned Video Filming Made It Clear
I happened to talk to a professional photographer. When I told him the “self-immolation” was staged, he said it was no surprise to him at all. He said he could tell the video was edited from several videos filmed by multiple cameras from different angles. He said it's a composite of stable and focused long shots and closeups. He said he absolutely could not believe it was a recording of an unexpected happening.
Investigation Concluded Within Two Hours?
More unbelievable is the speed of the TV report. Two hours after the incident, CCTV broadcasted its report of the incident, including the investigation in both Chinese and English. How could an investigation be done within two hours? Given the political system in China, it would have taken a long time to report it, and would have gone through several bureaucratic levels to get approval.
The Xinhua News Agency released the English report to the world with unprecedented speed, claiming the five people who set themselves on fire were Falun Gong practitioners. However, when a VOA (Voice of America) reporter called the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau to verify the report, he was told that they didn't know anything about it. How could propaganda get ahead of the police investigation? The speed of the report itself indicates that this was well-planned in advance.
There are several flaws, but this pre-scheduled curfew itself shows the incident was fabricated.
I deeply appreciate the efforts of all the people who exposed the lie and spread the truth. I'm sincerely happy for the people who have learned the facts. However, many Chinese people are still being deceived by the “self-immolation” and have misunderstandings and hatred against Falun Gong practitioners.
I once sent a truth-clarification letter to an email account. The reply was, “Go away as far as you can! Who believes it? Don't you know about self-immolation?”
I wasn't upset with him. However, I was very sad when I realized that the Chinese Communist Party has deceived so many people for decades. Now, many people automatically swallow the lies and no longer think for themselves.
I replied, “I appreciate your straightforwardness. I'd like us to be friends. The reason I sent you the email is because we all have been deceived by the CCTV and the government. The so-called 'self-immolation' was staged. Falun Gong is a great cultivation practice that has benefited millions of people here in China, as well as overseas. Think about it, if Falun Gong isn't good, then why are so many people practicing it? China is the only country in the entire world that has banned Falun Gong...”
I didn't receive a reply. I keep wondering how he is, but unfortunately he isn't the only person who has been deceived. I sincerely hope all Chinese people wake up!
